My 2020 Election Post

As I've mentioned previously, I avoid politics and religion on social media. I prefer to share my amazing dogs and an occasional school related post.

But here on my blog, I'll express my views. I take no offense if you disagree, but I make no apologies for my opinions. Feel free to comment, but I won't respond.

Here is my 2020 Election Post:

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud."

1st Corinthians 13:4

"...clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience."

Colossians 3:12

"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another."

Ephesians 4:32

"Forget everything I said 2000 years ago.

Brag incessantly about your greatness.

Treat women as objects and brag about your ability to grab them by the $%^$*#.

Mock the disabled in front of thousands of cheering supporters.

Threaten to lock up those who disagree with you.

Call those who nobly serve their country "losers" and "not so great," even those who have risen to high levels of leadership over lifetimes of service, and even tried to serve with integrity under your own leadership.

Call those who were captured and tortured in the service of their country "not a hero," even as you avoided service to your country yourself.

Consort with and admire other leaders who oppress their citizens and who assassinate those who speak out against them

Let your speech be filled with hyperbole and outright falsehoods.

Take credit for things that others accomplished and blame others for your own failures.

Mock those who spend years studying and researching for the betterment of humanity.

Take no concern for the environment of the world I created for you.

Disregard the rules imposed by local authorities and health facilities as you promote your own agenda.

But most importantly, appoint conservative judges who will overturn a previous ruling that prevented states from outlawing abortion. For if you do this, nothing else matters. It is for the one and only greater good. I really don't care how you behave otherwise. The fact that even if this ruling is overturned, abortion will still be legal in many states throughout your country not withstanding, and the fact that my people seem more obsessed with changing the law than with changing the hearts and minds of people and the circumstances that lead to unwanted pregnancies not withstanding, and the fact that over the past two decades the number of abortions in your country has decreased dramatically without the help of judges not withstanding, still, if you will appoint these judges you may rule in the land, and mock, and belittle and brag, and lie, and benefit your businesses at the government's expense, and grab $%^$*# all you want. For the ends shall always justify the means."

21st Century Bible: 1:1

"If you can't behave that way in my classroom, you can't behave that way in the Whitehouse."

Jayverbs: 1:6

"Our children are always watching. They value what we admire."

Jayverbs: 1:7

It’s All in Your Head

Yes. It really is “all in my head.” Since I’ve had the responsibility of dealing at close range with “dementia meets bipolar disorder” for the past few years, I’ve thought more and more about how our brains work...or don’t. So, while I readily admit I have no more expertise in neurology than the next person, I think a lot about how we historically (and presently) have misconstrued and misunderstood so many things related to our brains. For example, phrases like "you're just imagining things," or "you're just hearing things" as explanations for hallucinations have long been a dismissive approach to what can be very real and serious mental disorders. The key word being "just."  Going back in time, yet still not totally absent in the present, there is the idea that supernatural forces or demonic entities were causes of  behavior we now know to be related to neurological disorders and chemical imbalances in the brain. I think part of humanity’s struggl

They're Only Words, and Words Are All I Have

Just Because, Santa Claus

Nearly two hundred years ago a poem was published that impacted my life more than any poem ever written. Each December, for the first nine years of my life, I looked forward in childlike wonder to a visit from a jolly old man/elf with the ability to bring me things I wanted; things he and his workers had made, and stamped with the brand names of major manufacturers; things that he was able to transport from the polar regions of the planet via a flying sleigh, pulled by flying reindeer; a sleigh that also carried gifts requested by every boy and girl on the planet; delivered in one magical night. He entered my house through the chimney of the fireplace. The fact that I lived in a house with no fireplace or chimney did not prevent him from doing so. I left him milk and a Mr. Goodbar on the kitchen table, and he never failed to eat and drink my offering of gratitude. I would see him at malls, and on street corners throughout the month of December. The fact that he should be busy making pr
