My 2020 Election Post

As I've mentioned previously, I avoid politics and religion on social media. I prefer to share my amazing dogs and an occasional school related post.

But here on my blog, I'll express my views. I take no offense if you disagree, but I make no apologies for my opinions. Feel free to comment, but I won't respond.

Here is my 2020 Election Post:

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud."

1st Corinthians 13:4

"...clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience."

Colossians 3:12

"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another."

Ephesians 4:32

"Forget everything I said 2000 years ago.

Brag incessantly about your greatness.

Treat women as objects and brag about your ability to grab them by the $%^$*#.

Mock the disabled in front of thousands of cheering supporters.

Threaten to lock up those who disagree with you.

Call those who nobly serve their country "losers" and "not so great," even those who have risen to high levels of leadership over lifetimes of service, and even tried to serve with integrity under your own leadership.

Call those who were captured and tortured in the service of their country "not a hero," even as you avoided service to your country yourself.

Consort with and admire other leaders who oppress their citizens and who assassinate those who speak out against them

Let your speech be filled with hyperbole and outright falsehoods.

Take credit for things that others accomplished and blame others for your own failures.

Mock those who spend years studying and researching for the betterment of humanity.

Take no concern for the environment of the world I created for you.

Disregard the rules imposed by local authorities and health facilities as you promote your own agenda.

But most importantly, appoint conservative judges who will overturn a previous ruling that prevented states from outlawing abortion. For if you do this, nothing else matters. It is for the one and only greater good. I really don't care how you behave otherwise. The fact that even if this ruling is overturned, abortion will still be legal in many states throughout your country not withstanding, and the fact that my people seem more obsessed with changing the law than with changing the hearts and minds of people and the circumstances that lead to unwanted pregnancies not withstanding, and the fact that over the past two decades the number of abortions in your country has decreased dramatically without the help of judges not withstanding, still, if you will appoint these judges you may rule in the land, and mock, and belittle and brag, and lie, and benefit your businesses at the government's expense, and grab $%^$*# all you want. For the ends shall always justify the means."

21st Century Bible: 1:1

"If you can't behave that way in my classroom, you can't behave that way in the Whitehouse."

Jayverbs: 1:6

"Our children are always watching. They value what we admire."

Jayverbs: 1:7

*I am affiliated with a political party that is neither Democrat nor Republican. Until four years ago, I was registered as a Republican. I could not in good conscience continue that party affiliation.

On Elections, the Economy, and a Certain Candidate

The power of confirmation bias is immeasurable. When presented with information or philosophy that we wish to be true, we will almost always believe it. It is how our brains work, and it is a flaw in our physiology. It does not serve us well. We are usually more than ready to dismiss facts that do not agree with our biases and accept lies that do. We will set aside reason and rational thought to accept anything that supports what we believe (not know) and wish (not need). We gravitate to sources that will confirm for us that reality is what we believe it needs to be. We will not have our perceptions disrupted for the sake of the truth. I have been a close observer, student, and sometimes participant in our political processes for all my adult life…and, to some extent, my teenage years. I chose to share this post because never before in my life have I witnessed good, decent, and sometimes intelligent people in such large numbers given over to tolerate, accept, admire, and, in ma...

Why I claim "No Party Affiliation"

When an individual registers to vote in Florida, a party affiliation option is given. This determines which primary elections one is eligible to vote in. For those of us who choose not to affiliate with a political party, we choose "NPA" (No Party Affiliation). By selecting "NPA," we cannot vote in either the Democratic or Republican primaries, except for situations where there is no opposition in one party or the race is non-partisan. It was no light decision when I switched to NPA several years ago. I was denying myself the opportunity to vote in Presidential Preference primaries, something I had done religiously since I was first able to vote for President in 1984. For most of my adult life, I tended to vote for Republican candidates. In Georgia, where I lived until 2000, no party selection is associated with voter registration, so the primaries are considered "open." Still, I usually voted in the Republican primaries and for the Republican candidates ...
